Mr. James "Jim" Stanton Browning

Mr. James “Jim” Stanton Browning, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on August 17, 2026, at the age of 80. Jim was born on January 9, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Robert and Evelyn Hall Browning. From an early age, he demonstrated the leadership, dedication, and strong character that would remain evident throughout his life. After graduating from high school, Jim attended LaGrange College, where he distinguished himself among his classmates. He was selected as Outstanding Senior and also served as president of his fraternity, honors that reflected both his leadership abilities and the respect he earned from those around him. Jim enjoyed a long and successful career with Robert Bosch Corporation, where he served as an operations manager for 26 years before retiring. During his time with Bosch, he was instrumental in establishing the first training group at the company’s Southeast location and also served as a QS/ISO Auditor. He took great pride in his work and was known for his knowledge, professionalism, and commitment to doing things well. A Christian by faith, Jim attended Shiloh Methodist Church in the Burwell Community of Carroll County. His faith was an important part of his life and helped shape the values by which he lived. Above all, Jim treasured his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Victoria Lynn Browning, whom he lovingly described as an outstanding and devoted woman. Their more than five decades together were filled with shared memories, companionship, and a deep and enduring love. Surviving Jim are his son and daughter, Robert James Browning and Virginia Lynn Brown, whom he affectionately considered his “two fabulous children.” He is also survived by his sisters, Margurette Norris and Sue Ellen Dennis; and three grandchildren, who brought him great joy and added another cherished chapter to his life. Jim will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, accomplished professional, and a man whose life was marked by leadership, loyalty, faith, and love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him, but the memories created during his 80 years will continue to be treasured. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 1:00 till 3:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home. Bro. Scott Eason will officiate. In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jim’s memory may make a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
