Mrs. Catherine "Cat" Robinson

Catherine Robinson, lovingly known to those who loved her as Cat, Mama, and Mawmaw, walked through Heaven’s gates on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 87. Cat was born on October 10, 1938, in Cleburne County, Alabama, to the late Sam and Bethie Cook. Cat loved being with her family gathered around the table, having her nails done, anything pink, Diet Mountain Dew, playing a good game of Rook or 5 Crowns (only if she was winning), traveling, and trying her luck at the lottery. If you knew Cat, you knew that the kitchen was one of her happiest places. She loved cooking and baking for the people she loved, and she was the best at it. No one made tea cakes, chicken and dumplings, or fried squash like Mawmaw. Cat also spent many years serving as a lunch lady alongside her sisters at Carrollton Elementary School and later alongside her children in their church’s meal ministry, where her caring heart extended far beyond her own family. She had a special way of making children feel loved and cared for, and along the way, she adopted many of those children as her own. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by the people she loved. Whether she was sitting around the table playing cards with her family, traveling with her sisters, or sitting beside them at the slot machines, she was almost always happy—and her squinty smile and sneaky laugh were the proof. In addition to her parents, Cat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tommy Robinson, and her sisters, Loraine Buchanan, Johnna Faye Sharp, Verbina McMahan, Nellie Whitmore, and Sandra Weathers. She leaves behind a beautiful family who will miss her every single day but are honored to have been loved by her and to continue her legacy. Survivors include her sister, Carolyn Caldwell; her son, Mark Robinson and his wife, Shelia; and her daughter, Cindy Johnson and her husband, Jerry; her grandchildren, Shane and Deborah Moore, Megan and Riley Clark, Stacey and Mike Camp, Jeremy Johnson, Blake and Kelly Johnson, Brooke and Adam Rowell, Camilla and Caleb Ivester, and many others who were blessed to call her Mawmaw Cat. She also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, including Colbin, Charlee Rae, Bailey, Jaccob, Abbie, Kate, Connar, JJ, Miley, Kay, Jeremiah, JoAnna, Bella, Averynn, Autumn, Lillie Mae, and Arie, along with countless friends and loved ones. She was Cat, Mama, and Mawmaw, and to the people who loved her, she was home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Rainwater Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Brother Jerome Whaley will officiate. To honor her bright personality, the family asks that you wear pink rather than traditional black. Though she has left this earthly home, the love she poured into her family will live on in every recipe, every family gathering, every card game, every story told, and every person who was blessed enough to be loved by Cat. In lieu of flowers, she asks that donations be made to the meal ministry team at Freedom Baptist Church.
