Mrs. Wynelle Crawford

June 12, 1936 - September 14, 2017

Mrs Wynelle Smith Crawford of Bowdon Georgia passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 peacefully in her home. She was 81. She was born June 12, 1936 in Woodland Alabama and the daughter of the late Lee and Nellie Frost Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Jerry C. Crawford, also brothers Stancil Smith of Garland Texas and Billy Joe Smith of LaGrange Georgia. She is survived by two sons Jerry Keith Crawford and wife Peggy Roop Crawford and son Kevin Phillip Crawford and two precious grandchildren, Brianna Crawford and Logan Crawford. She graduated from Woodland High School in 1955 and married her high school sweetheart on November 16th 1956. She immediately went to work allowing a newlywed husband an opportunity to complete his college education as her career began at Lamar Manufacturing in Bowdon Georgia. Ultimately her career led into a life time of care giving as she became a nurse for Jubal Watts Hospital in Bowdon Georgia. She then became an employee of the newly established Bowdon Area Hospital as medical assistant and later wards secretary. Her nursing career spanned a period of 25 years but her number one responsibility as a wife, homemaker, mother, and caregiver never expired. A caregiver personified. She was of Baptist faith and a loyal member of Bowdon Baptist Church since 1959. She participated with the Church as a Joy Sunday School Class member and the adult sanctuary choir. She loved Bowdon Baptist Church and being a choir member brought years of joy and a lifetime of friendships. She was a member of the Bowdon Historical Society and a charter member of the “Bowdon Birthday Club” established in 1972. As a baking enthusiast she loved to share with friends & neighbors bakery goods and flowers with banana bread being her specialty. Tending to her flowers, managing the lawn, and digging in the dirt “was good for the soul” she said. Her pride & joy was to have had an opportunity to spend precious amounts of time with all of her grandchildren. Fun & Games, Food & Study, Rest & Hygiene, but most of all; LOVE. Grandchildren Brianna & Logan Crawford, along with, step-grandchildren Eli & Lucas Styles and Payton & Anna Smith. Pallbears will be Randy Smith, Logan Crawford, Paul Crawford, Neal Crawford, Eli Durham-Styles, and Lucas Durham-Styles. .
