The homegoing for Mr. Leon Enloe Mote was on May 4, 2020. He was 101. Mr. Mote was born on March 21, 1919 in the Delta community of Clay County, Alabama to the late William and Sidney Mote. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a lifelong farmer and a master steward of the land. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Herren Mote; his son, Gregory Enloe Mote; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Pauline Mote, Rex and Florence Mote, and Fred Mote; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jan and Elmer Jobe and Mavis and Nevin Brown. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Elaine and Don McLemore, Kay Oxford, and Joe and Peggy Mote, all of Woodland, Alabama; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Gerald McCord of Roanoke, Alabama and Stella and Rod Lum of Woodland, Alabama; his sister-in-law, Fran Mote of Huntsville, Texas; his grandchildren, Donna Watkins and Nancy Shipp , and his great-grandchildren, Gregory Watkins, Nathan Shipp, Blake Shipp, Anna Shipp, and Gracie Shipp. A graveside service will be held at Herren’s Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. (Alabama Time). Interment will follow.
