Mr. Kenneth "Cotton" Estes

October 9, 1922 - July 22, 2019

Kenneth Ray “Cotton” Estes, of Ranburne, Alabama, passed away on July 22, 2019. He was 96. Mr. Estes was born on October 9, 1922 in Heflin, Alabama to the late Lance and Mae Estes. He was raised in Cleburne County but moved to Michigan where he raised his family and retired from Ford Motor Company. After his retirement, he returned to Ranburne. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Linda, and his two pups, Chico and Cookie. He also liked riding horses, working in his shop, and telling stories about the life he had lived and all the changes he had seen. He never met a stranger and the sound of his laugh was something to be heard by all. He loved his wife and family and will be missed dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Lee Estes; his daughter, Connie Lee Estes; his stepsons, Jonathan Newborn and Jason Newborn; his stepdaughter, Tina Newborn; his grandson, Chad Everett Ridgeway; his great-granddaughter, Katie Marie Newborn; and his sisters, Sherry McMahan and Kathleen Thornton. Survivors include his wife, Linda Estes; his son, Kenneth Ray Estes, Jr. (Colleen) of Michigan; his stepson, Joseph Newborn (Teresa) of Randolph County, AL; his step-daughters, Joyce “Big Girl” Wingo (James) of Eastaboga, AL, Jane Alred of New York, and June Bell of Florida; his grandson, Ryan Arrington (Beckie) of Ranburne, AL and Wade Estes of Michigan; his granddaughter, Tracie Rosol (Bob) of Michigan; his sisters, Jan Beaster (Gary) of Michigan and Carol Roberts (Phil) of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. (Georgia Time) at the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home. Rev. J.W. Daniel will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tim Pointer, Dalton Pointer, Tyler Newborn, Josh Newborn, Jimmy Ward, Danny Estes, Avery Arrington, and Collin Estes. Interment will follow in Ranburne Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. (Georgia Time).
