Mrs. Jimmie Lou White

December 2, 1939 - January 27, 2017

Mrs. Jimmie Lou White, of Bowdon, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2017. She was 77. Mrs. White was born on December 2, 1939 to the late Jimmie and Bessie Cummings. After graduating from High School, she moved to Atlanta and began her career in banking. She returned to Bowdon and worked at the Commercial Bank and later retired from SunTrust after 38 years. Over the course of those years, she met and helped many people. After her retirement, she and her husband, Edwin, enjoyed working in her yard and flowers and going antiquing. She also enjoyed travelling and going to gospel singings. Mrs. White was also an active member of Sardis Baptist Church and sang in the choir until her health failed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin White; her sisters, Syble Cunningham and Catherine Huddleston; and her brother, Rendal Cummings. She is survived by her God-daughter, Melissa Jones and her husband, Jeff; her grandchildren, Hunter Jones and Kendall Jones; her brother and sister-in-law, Lindy and Margie Cummings; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Janice White; her sister-in-law, Wanda Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews who were special to her heart. The family would also like to give thanks to her caregiver, Sandra Weninger, and special family friend and caregiver, Deborah Thornton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church. Bro. Darnell Teal will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Huddleston, Russ Cunningham, Stacey Cummings, Garrett Cummings, Donnie Cummings, Scott Cummings, and Shane Cummings. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Prior to the services, her body will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 p.m. till the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 29, 2017, from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, but those wishing to do so may make donations in Mrs. White’s memory to Tanner Hospice (150 Henry Burson Avenue, Suite 102, Carrollton, GA 30117).
