Janice Chambers, of Heflin, Alabama, passed away on December 14, 2016. She was 69. Mrs. Chambers was born on October 5, 1947 in the Newell Community of Randolph County, Alabama to the late Curtis and Mamie Cook. She was retired from Trintex where she worked in housekeeping. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Chambers; her brother, Clyde Cook; her sister, Evelyn Gentry; her brothers-in-law, Hoyt Gentry, Lynn Casey, Harold Payne, Hugh Chambers, Charles Chambers, and M.A. Chambers; and her sisters-in-law, Jean Arrington and Patricia Copeland. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Lisa and James Hudgins of Heflin, Danny and Patricia Payne of Bowdon, and Lenita and Randy Wehunt of Bowdon; her stepchildren, Randy Chambers and his wife, Glenda, of Oxford, Alabama and Mark Chambers of Graham, Alabama; her special companion, Don Linn; her ex-husband, Calvin Payne of Roopville, Georgia; her grandchildren, Cassandra Strickland of Heflin, Marie Henson of Munford, Alabama, Jessica Holcombe of Heflin, Curt Chambers of Carrollton, Daniel Payne of Roopville, Jada Holcombe of Heflin, Lee Chambers of Heflin, Lacey Payne of Bowdon, and Randy Chambers, Jr. of Oxford; her great-grandchildren, Austin Strickland, Nicholas Strickland, Christopher Henson, Magen Henson, Logan Tolbert, Abby Chambers, Amber Rose Chambers, and Kingslee Orman; her sister, Brenda Casey; her sisters-in-law, Gena Payne, Betty Spradlin, Nell Weber, Sue Weber, Dale Archer, June Jones, Marie Townsend, Aubrey Chambers, and Betty Chambers; her brothers-in-laws, Wilford Payne and Donald Chambers; her ex-son-in-law, Marvin Chambers; a special friend, Mary Bishop; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. (Georgia Time) at Oak Hill Baptist Church. Bro. J.W. Daniel, Bro. Wallace Higgins, and Bro. Cecil Cook will officiate. Pallbearers will be Randy Wehunt, Austin Strickland, Curt Chambers, Lee Chambers, Chris Orman, and Brad Orman. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
