Mr. Harold Franklin Cook, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on December 15, 2019. He was 75. Harold was born on March 23, 1944 in Bowdon to the late Henry Allison and Ruthie Mae Cook. He was a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Navy and was retired from Rayloc where he worked as a long-haul truck driver. Harold was a tinkerer who loved messing with things to see how they worked. However, he was better at taking things apart than putting them back together. He enjoyed yard sales and racing of all kinds, but especially dirt track. He liked traveling and, according to his family, never feared danger. He was a lover of animals and had a special place for his dog, Princess. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Cook Hall. Survivors include his children, John Cook (Kristi East) and Ruthie Cook Mason (Wes); the mother of his children, Christine Donoho; his grandchildren, Christopher Maddox (Megan) and Jeremy Cook; his great-grandchild, Morgan Maddox; and his siblings, Curtis Cook, Mildred Cook Campbell, and Henry Cook. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church. Bro. Randy King will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 16, 2019 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make contributions in Harold’s memory to Southland Veterinary Services (2984 Stateline Rd, Bowdon, GA 30108) to be used to assist those who need help with pet care expenses.
