Debbie Garrett Smith

June 5, 1962 - December 30, 2018

Debbie Garrett Smith, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on December 30, 2018. She was 56. Debbie was born on June 5, 1962 to the late Ray and Joy Garrett. She was retired from Carroll County Board of Education where she had worked as a teacher at Bowdon Elementary School. The number of lives she impacted is countless, and will forever be remembered in this community. She was a member of Bowdon First United Methodist Church since a child and recently rededicated her life to the Lord through baptism in September of this year. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Laura Garrett Bailey. She is survived by Jeff Smith; her daughters and sons-in-law, Allison and Craig Robinson and Anna and Sam Albright; her grandchildren, Cassie Robinson, Carson Robinson, Carlie Robinson, Claire Robinson, Garrett Robinson, Ellis Albright, and Everett Albright; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Alan and Suzanne Garrett and Andy and Hope Garrett. She lived for her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Days spent with “Big Mama” were filled with story-telling, building forts, cooking her favorite meals, outside adventures, and most importantly using imagination. These memories will forever be cherished so deeply in our hearts. Her contagious smile and laughter could brighten anyone’s day. To know Debbie Garrett Smith was to love her. Her legacy will live on through her family and this community for years to come. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowdon First United Methodist Church. Bro. Brian Smith will officiate. Music will be provided by Lisa Sheffield and Ginnie Prater. Pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Lanny Smith, Dusty Smith, Brandon Garrett, Drew Garrett, and Carson Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bowdon High School Class of 1980 and Debbie’s friends and fellow teachers from Bowdon Elementary School. Interment will follow at Garrett’s Chapel Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m.
