Carolyn Madden Buchanan, age 72 of Douglasville, Georgia, went home to meet her Heavenly Father on January 1, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Carolyn was born in Pelham, Ga. She retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. She was single mother of 4 daughters who loved her family dearly. She was preceded by her parents, Herman and Lillian Madden; her brother, Robert Madden; her sisters, Elizabeth Robinson and Kathy Swofford; and her husband, Billy Buchanan. Survivors include her daughter, Sherri Eley and her husband, Dennis Eley, of Douglasvillle, Renee Dutton and her husband, Matt Dutton, of Douglasville, Paula Smith and husband, Tony Smith, of Panama City Beach FL, and Christi Johnson of Douglasville; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; her brothers, Rick Madden and his wife, Cheryl, David Madden and his wife, Andrea; her sisters, Judy Lovvorn and her husband, Harold, and Gale Fauscett; and her brothers-in-law, Curtis Robinson and Curtis Swofford; and her sister-in-law, JoAnn Madden. She was an extremely devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She obviously played many roles in very rich and full life. Her passions included many things of which she enjoyed greatly before and after retirement from work. Her most beloved passion was her family in which she spent countless hours enjoying vacationing, enjoying meals, family gatherings and reunions, babysitting grandchildren and great grandchildren. Other passions were gardening, lawn scaping and beautifying all that surrounded her yard and home. She worked tirelessly keeping everything in order. She easily had the energy and strength of the average 30-year old up until the very end of her battle. Carolyn will be remembered in the fondest and most loving of ways by all that were fortunate enough to be a part of her life. She will be missed by all her loved ones and we ask that your thoughts and prayers be lifted up for the family members during this most difficult time. Our loss is surely Heavens gain and she is reunited with all her loved ones that have gone on before her and her body is free of sickness and is once again fearfully and wonderfully perfected in the image of our Lord Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home. Bro. Grady Morris will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers her wishes are to donate to the Wellstar Foundation www.wellstar.org/givetohospice 770-956-GIVE (4483)
