Mrs. Muriel McIntosh Miles

Mrs. Muriel Sue McIntosh Miles of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015. She was 72. Mrs. Muriel was born on November 7, 1942, to the late Weemes Roy McIntosh and Marian Marie Moore McIntosh. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a retired school bus driver with the Carroll County School System with 20 years of loyal service. She was a very active volunteer member of the Carroll County 4-H program for many years. She attended camps, judging events, etc. including hosting several students from all over the world. She loved being a positive, Christian influence to all and loved each and every child in her care. She was a loving wife, mother, G-maw, and friend. She loved art and was an avid oil and canvas painter. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, needlepoint, bead-working, and arts and crafts in general. Her most prized pieces of craftsmanship are three filet-crochet “Lords Prayer” wall hangings that she made for her girls. She also loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Eva and J.D. Miles; sister-in-law, Clarice Griffin; brother-in-law, Ray Miles; and brother-by-choice Alfred Thomas. Survivors include her husband for nearly 48 years, Larry Miles of Carrollton; her daughters and sons-in-law, Kayron and Steve Chambers of Whitesburg, Karmen and Michael Mesch of Carrollton, Debra and Michael Phillips of Carrollton, and daughter-by-choice, Rosa Maria Vera-Caballero of Asuncion, Paraguay; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Wayne Ledbetter of Bowdon, Dianne and Jerry Cochran of Newnan and sister-by –choice, Wanda Thomas of Brunswick, GA. Also, surviving are her grandchildren, Mitchell and Rebekah (Ayers) Bailey of Bowdon, EvaMarie Phillips, and Nicholas Phillips; and her beloved dogs, Doogie and Hershey. Additional survivors are her nieces and nephews and their spouses, Gayle (Ledbetter) and Alfred Daughtrey of Valley, AL, David and Sharon Ledbetter of Heflin, AL, Lori (Ledbetter) and Michael Morrow of Ranburne, AL, Julie (Cochran) and Mark Jersey of Newnan, Melanie (Cochran) and Bill Hathcock of Newnan, Carol (Griffin) and Larry “Joe” Lane of Carrollton, Richard and Becky Griffin of Hiawassee, Dennis and Becky (Barnes) Griffin of Bowdon, Sandy Griffin of Carrollton, Tim Griffin of Carrollton, Melanie (Miles) and Mark Ayash of Marietta, Sammy Miles of Douglasville. She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Muriel Miles will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church (31 Antioch Church Road, 30117). Reverend David Ayers, Reverend Tony McManus, Reverend Anthony Puckett, and Reverend Larry Scott will be officiating. Music will be provided by family friends, Rita and Jimmy Pearson. Mrs. Muriel’s nephew, David Ledbetter, nephews-in-law, Alfred Daughtrey (honorary), Michael Morrow, great-nephew, Andrew Morrow, cousins, Richard Noles (honorary) and Dr. Paul Walls, cousin-in-law, Tony Grizzard, Russell Grizzard, Neal Grizzard (honorary), family friend, Danny Nixon and Michael Wilburn will serve as pallbearers. Carroll County School Bus Drivers will also serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Monday, August 17, 2015, from 4-8 pm.
