Mrs. JoAnn Rollins Harper

Mrs. JoAnn Rollins Harper, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on September 9, 2026. She was 84 years old just two weeks shy of her 85th birthday. Ms. JoAnn was born on September 24th, 1941 in Heard County, Georgia to the late Paul Dennis “Jake” Rollins and Rachel Thornton Rollins. On May 31, 1958, she married the love of her life, Donald Harper, and they remained together for 54 years until his passing in 2012. JoAnn was a stay-at-home mom until their last child started school. At that time, she started a job at Belk selling clothing in the men’s department where she remained for 25 years and received numerous awards and honors for top salesperson in her division and the state. She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was a faithful, active member, part of the choir, and pre-k teacher for the children’s program. She devoted her life to her faith, family, and caring for those around her. Her love language was food and she spent many, many years preparing a big “Sunday lunch” for family after church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Donald Harper; their son, David Paul Harper; and her brother Wayne Rollins. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Donna and Phil Holdbrooks of Waco, GA; Jeff and Tracey Harper of Bowdon; Joel and Lisa Harper of Bowdon; and Jason Harper and Christian Eden of Decatur, GA; her sister Sandra Wylene Armstrong of Temple; her brother and sister in law, Mike and Shelia Rollins of Bowdon; and dear sister in law and next door neighbor, Dura Toole of Bowdon; her grandchildren, Kristy and Ben Moore of Hiram, GA, Ben and Tiffany Harper, Luke and Brandy Harper, Darby and Ben Vance of Bowdon, Molly and Eli Hightower of Ranburne, AL and Callie Harper and Richard Elliot of Fairfield CT; and her great-grandchildren, Ella, Alison, and Andy Moore of Hiram and Payton, Wyatt, Rylin, Addie, Emma Jo, and Brooks Harper, and Jett Vance, all of Bowdon and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive visitors on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 11:00 AM until the time of services at 1:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held immediately following the viewing on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. Jamie Beam will officiate and Molly Hightower will offer a eulogy. Dennis Rollins will conduct the graveside services. Music will be provided by the church choir and Regina Grizzard Jones. Pallbearers will be Ben Moore, Ben Harper, Luke Harper, Ben Vance, Eli Hightower and Wyatt Harper. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
